Gay Beauty Pageant Winner Arrested for Cannibal Murder

In a sad and ironic twist for the Mr. Gay UK pageant, the first ever winner has been charged with the murder of a staffer of the company that runs the competition.

Anthony Francis Morley is charged with the murder of Damian Oldfield, an employee of All Points North. All Points North owns the Mission club in Leeds, Bent Magazine and the Mr. Gay UK brand.

Mr. Oldfield was stabbed to death April 24, and the police have charged Mr. Morley with the crime. Morley won the Mr. Gay UK competition in 1993, winning the right to open gay clubs and events across the country.

After Morley made certain comments in a local fast food joint, the police were called and discovered the body of Mr. Oldfield. Morley apparently walked into the Desi Khana restaurant and said "I am the murderer, call the police." That's just where the weirdness starts.

Police have reported that there were cannibalistic elements to the murder. A Yorkshire newspaper reported: "Horrified detectives then found a diced up section of flesh on a kitchen worktop which had been cooked.” It is thought that Morley ate some of the cooked flesh.

The Yorkshire Police have released an official statement, saying: "Police were called to Bexley Place in Harehills at 2.30am on Thursday, April 24. On arrival officers discovered the body of a 33 year old man". They have refused to comment further.

Oldfield worked as an advertising manager for All Points North. Colleagues have been actively paying tribute to their fallen coworker on the internet since the killing. Morley is awaiting trial after not having asked for bail.

It good to know that the pink press reports the news when gay people are alleged to have done criminal acts. I say this because I feel the pink press gives an insular view of the world - as if everything gay is good and everything non-gay is suspect.
