Compton’s Gets New Owners
September 09, 2010
An iconic gay club in London’s Soho district has been bought out and its fate undetermined.
Soho, London
Compton’s, in the heart of London’s gay Soho district, was acquired by Faucet Inns, which acquired a total of six bars from Mitchells and Butlers, of which one of them was Compton’s.
Faucet Inns operates more than a dozen bars in the South East and London.
The release of Compton’s by Mitchells and Butlers was in line with its plan to transition to more food-operated establishments, in an effort to establish itself in the eating-out market.
With over 20 years of history as a gay bar, the fate of Compton’s remains unknown. For now, it continues to run as a usual and there has been no indication of any major changes or closure thus far.
