Jane Lynch Wrestled with Coming Out
July 13, 2010
Jane Lynch, star of Glee, says the possibility of being famous and out gave her angst.

Speaking to the Press Association at this year’s Outfest in Los Angeles, she said: "It's funny, when I was younger I used to lie in bed and think, 'What will I do if I ever get famous and they find out I'm gay?' I would really angst about that."
Lynch, who plays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, recently married her longtime girlfriend Lara Embry.
She added: "It just happened so naturally and I didn't hide anything."
At the festival, where she was awarded the Outfest Achievement Award, paid tribute to the lesbian celebrities who came out several years ago, a time when few gay stars were out.
"It's the people that came before me that have really blazed a trail for me.” She said. “Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donnell, Melissa Etheridge, Kd Lang, those people that stood up when it wasn't popular and said, 'I'm gay – deal with it."
Glee has been showered in Emmy nominations with 19. Lynch has been nominated for two awards, one for Glee and the other for her guest appearance on Two and A Half Men.
