McElderry Confirms his Sexuality after Twitter Hacked

After a hacker took hold of X Factor winner Joe McElderry’s account and posted a message saying he was gay, the singer has come out as straight.

The tweet last week read: “It’s been difficult living a lie for so many years.”

Later, he wrote: "Guys my twitter has been hacked!"
 

Speaking to the Sun he said he was "straight and single."

After winning the show in December, McElderry dismissed rumors of his sexual orientation. According to an ex-girlfriend, the singer was a victim of homophobic bullying at school.

“I’m straight. I’ve had girlfriends, but I don’t have one right now. I haven’t slept with anyone, but I’m a young lad and I’m concentrating on my music.

“I know I’ll probably get offers but for me it’s all about the singing for now."
