Lambert Out and Proud

Last season’s American idol runner up Adam Lambert has said he is proud about being gay and hopes he’s sending out the right message.

According to news reports, Lambert said: "I think just being visible and proud of who I am gives the right message," Lambert said.
"I think empowerment is a great gift to give to people. And it doesn't have to be about just my gay fans, I want my female fans to feel comfortable in their own skin and feel sexy. Hopefully my music promotes that."
Lambert also apologized for the unflattering remarks he had for Susan Boyle’s album.
"It came across a bit harsher than how it actually went down," he said. "But I'm not a fan of the record, it wasn't a lie."
Of Boyle’s album, Lambert said:
'If only it weren't for Susan Boyle! I'm happy for her success, but that album is terrible. Wild Horses is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter.
'It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!'
The singer also lashed out at Gene Simmons, who told Lambert to keep hush about his sexuality.
"For someone to criticise me talking about my sexuality and say, 'America doesn't care about what you do behind closed doors and it's going to kill your career,' well that's funny because all he talks about is how many women he's slept with," Lambert said.
He also explained his costume choice for his performance during the Sydney Mardi Gras.
"[I wore] a G-string with a leather pouch and studs on it," Lambert explained. "I just put that on and tons of glitter and took the stage."
Unlike his American Music Awards performance, Lambert didn’t lock lips with another male.
"There were a few male dancers kissing each other, but not me. That happened later that afternoon," he said.
Lambert’s latest single, "Whataya Want From Me", has sold 54,000 copies this week.
