World’s Second Pregnant Man

February 01, 2010

Scott and Thomas Moore, like any other parents are “blissfully happy” awaiting the arrival of their new son, but what makes this an extraordinary story is that Scott is male.

Scott, a transgender male from California is to become the world’s second pregnant man, currently carrying a healthy baby boy expected to

Scott realised from the age of eleven that he was male and his biological sex, and subsequently started taking hormones at the age of 16. He said: ‘When I told my family they thought I was crazy but they gradually realised I was serious and allowed me to start taking male hormones when I was sixteen years old.’ The family could however not afford the full gender reassignment surgery, which left him with his female organs.

Thomas on the other hand started the transitioning process in 1999, having undergone a full female to male transition which includes a hysterectomy and having a penis made out of flesh from his thigh.

The couple met at a transgender support group for men and have been together for three years now. They subsequently wanted to add to their family of four, as Thomas, already has two children from a previous marriage to a woman, who passed away. The result, the couple is expecting a son to be called Miles.

Addressing fears on the challenges Miles could potentially face, Thomas said: "We've been through it already. My son Logan was bullied but now he just says to teasers: 'You may have a problem with my two dads but I don't so you're not hurting me'. …

Thomas concluded” We want to show the world that trans-families can be healthy, loving and nurturing."

Scott follows in the footsteps of the world’s first “pregnant man” Thomas Beatie, who gave birth to two healthy children in the US state of Hawaii.
