Sussex Beacon Half Marathon Geared for All Sorts
January 28, 2010
Sussex Beacon half marathon is to be supported by the LGBT community in aid of those living with HIV.
This year’s Beacon Half Marathon, taking place on February 21, has already attracted 8,000 runners, who will not only take on the gruelling race but also raise money for HIV positive people.
The half marathon while being quite competitive in one respect, with many serious athletes entering, also presents a more fun side with a vibrant and colourful atmosphere for those joining in the fundraising event.
The race, which winds along the seafront to Hove Lawns and Rottingham to the finish line located on Madeira Drive, will also include a Youth Race for children between the ages of 8 and 16, adding to the festive and family feel of the event.
A spokesperson commented: “It is the perfect event to brighten up the city as it heads out of the last stretches of winter. The ‘Beacon Half’ is also turning into a top flight community event with lots of businesses and services from Brighton and Hove getting involved.”
