Brighton Targets Gay US Tourism Market

January 26, 2010

The Brighton and Hove council are to focus on a campaign aimed at bringing in US gay travelers.

Visit Brighton is teaming up with Visit Britain to ensure capture the attention of gay US travelers.

The campaign is set to include advertising, special website and press and pr campaigns aimed at the US in order to draw the gay travelers. The reason for this is the recent US based market research which found the gay traveler who have indicated a increasing interest in visiting the UK over the coming three years, with many viewing Brighton as part of a ‘two-centre’ holiday combined with London.

With the prospects of an influx of tourists expected, the Brighton and Hove Council has decided to make haste to target this potentially invaluable market to “ensure the city retains its status as the prime lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender destination in the UK”.

Cabinet councilor for tourism David Smith said: “Being part of this campaign places us firmly on the international LGBT travel map.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to grow new markets for the city. We have a brilliant LGBT scene in terms of entertainment, culture and venues. The council is doing all it can to help those businesses thrive and the visitors to have a good time.”
