The role will involve the following:
To supervise a group of employees engaged in all aspects of Highways and Winter Maintenance, issuing of daily work instructions, emergency call out system & Winter Maintenance stand by. To continuously monitor the quality of the service, by site visits on a daily basis and in compliance with Health & Safety and service delivery to the public and to ensure the section is achieving its key performance indicators.
To be responsible for complaints regarding service provision, including investigation and response to pre defined timescales. To liaise with the client (Environment) outside bodies (e.g. police, employment agencies, suppliers) regarding requests or additional services.
To keep the Senior Supervisor regularly informed on operational issues and areas of concern, include draft basic reports, and in his/ her absence advise the Highways Services manager of any serious problems. To deputise for the Senior Supervisor as required.
To assist the Senior Supervisor with recruitment of operational staff , disciplinary, welfare, absence, safety matters such as Health & Safety codes of practice, undertake COSHH and risk assessments in line with the standards of OHSAS 18001.
To ensure the Council’s management systems are completed effectively including sickness/ absence monitoring. Drivers defect reports and accident management system.
To regularly produce invoices in relation to planned maintenance work (i.e. large construction sites) and defect maintenance to meet the required deadlines.
Participate in training courses including the training of staff.
To carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and of a similar responsibility level to those described above which may be allocated from time to time.
