Kick off the Summer Pride Season With Pinke.biz at Birmingham Pride
Wednesday 21st May 2008
This weekend marks the unofficial start to the summer Pride season as Birmingham plays host to its annual Gay Pride event.

The 2008 UK Pride season begins in earnest with Birmingham Pride 2008.
Although there will be no parade this year organizers have promised that this Saturday and Sunday will still be chock full of action and fun events for everyone.
Pride spokesman Phil Oldershaw said: "We are really excited about this year’s event and view it as a foundation for developing Birmingham Pride for future years. We have developed new relationships with sponsors and contributors and have also being reminding ourselves about pulling together as a community.
"We are hoping for really great weather, but even if the worst happens and it rains all weekend we’ve created areas which will provide cover."
The Pride will not have a parade for the first time due to a series of disagreements over the start time. There will, however, be loads of official entertainment.
From 1 p.m. Saturday the main stage in Victoria Square will play host to a variety of musicians, including top Eurovision artists. At around 5 local cabaret performers will appear for several hours of entertainment until the Cheeky Girls and Katrina, of Katrina and the Waves, take the stage at 8.
The city’s thriving gay district will play host to a wide variety of other entertainments throughout the weekend. In addition to the musical entertainment a wide variety of organizations and businesses will be on hand to promote their products and get feedback from the LGBT community.
Pinke will be one of those groups. Come and find our stall on Saturday or Sunday. We’ll be handing out Pinke goodies and we would love to get your thoughts on the site and how we can make it better. We’ll see you at the Pride.
